Moto camping with a STOVE!
In this video I try something I’ve always wanted to try, winter moto camping!
I invited my friend Jason along, he brought his Honda XR650L and I took my KTM500exc.
This was a proof of concept video, to see if moto winter camping could be done comfortably! We took along a backpacking hot ten with a wood stove.

Переглядів 38 тис.2 місяці тому
In this video we look at the KTM 890 Adventure R and explore why it is probably the most capable off road adventure bike on the market. But with that title comes some pesky issues that could be a deal breaker for a lot of people. Let me know what you think, would you still buy the KTM 890 or would you look elsewhere? And if you own a KTM 890 Adventure let me know what how your experience has be...

This is by far the strangest thing I have ever done on a motorcycle. It's something I have thought about doing for quite some time, but wasn't sure if I could pull it off. !This one was an absolute hilarious thing for me to film, I hope you enjoy the video! www.rangeroadmoto.com instagram rangeroadmoto

Great video. Just need some Motion Footpegs to finish that build up;)
Having more grip on your feet is always a good thing!
You sound like Chef John
I am unfamiliar with Chef John.. is this a good thing or bad thing? Haha
@@rangeroadmoto he's cool lol
Ignore all the haters that love to talk shit about it. The DRZ400SM is an amazing bike, great in the corners, is highly upgradeable, and you can buy a brand new one for well under $10k. If you are reading this and are considering buying one, trust me, it is worth every cent.
Okey i u got me. Ill buy it.

Beautiful bike! I have a 2020 KTM 690 Enduro R now. I’m really tempted to trade for one of these. I’m 71 years old, and I need a low seat and center of gravity, due to issues with my legs (old age). Thanks for posting this. ♥️🏍️
made truly in the honda spirit. it doesn't do a particularly amazing job. but it does. it always does
Thanks for the great Canadian review. Nice bike, beautiful country.
As a KTM 890 Adventure owner, I can totally relate. My 890 is sitting in my local KTM shop waiting for coolant leak fix. Apparently warped thermostat housing. After two years of synching hose clamps, I replaced all coolant hoses hoses and clamps with Samco. But, looks like leak was from thermostat housing all along. I also have all the other issues like cold start and front rotor warp at 8K. I have a second KTM to ride in meantime. I guess that's price of owning the brand....you need a spare. Great video. Thanks. I just hope KTM is watching.
Shopping bikes right now, and this is slowly showing itself to be everything I'm looking for in a "forever bike".
In the same way a new puppy helps relieve the pain of losing a beloved dog, this 300 might help me get over the guilt of letting my WR250R go to another home.
He is wrong on the acceleration.. he had it full of camping gear.. run lighter weights in variator and its quicker zero to 60 than most cars. Also stip trashing the Elite off road and dumping it intentionally.. them plastic parts are impossible to find replacements for now.
Hello it is me aka“He”. It has aftermarket variators that I installed. Never once dumped a motorcycle or scooter on purpose. This scooter was in far better condition than when I got from the previous owner. None of the plastics were damaged.
Comparison between Kove and KTM: equal, both are overprized.
I heard the there is now a 2.0 ECU tune available for the initial models and the production models seem to be a bit up on power so probably this is the version that ships from the factory now.
beautiful camera and editing work!!!
That's when they made real cars with imagination and design, Today they all look the same like designer jeans. No Character. or design to them all junk.
What a beautiful car man wow. so nice.
cheap lightweight super reliable easy to ride, no wonder they sell a lot
Looks fun
Anyone that thinks 25-30 hp isn't enough on a 300lb bike, well you can tell they havent rode very much....
Look into Asia. They do everything on small bikes
Very well done brother! God bless.
perfect commuter
Great video. The riding across the cliff face looks proper chicken oriental
Greetings from the UK. Great video!
Great bike, great video! At 10:41 this crossing looks like the one from the movie Cast Away. I mean the better version of it :D, compare it by yourself: ua-cam.com/video/4aM1DjtaeF8/v-deo.html
I had a 250L for 6 years it was great. These 300L's are even better!
I wonder if I can get some opinions of people who own this now. I’ve ridden pretty much everything under the sun. I’ve done lots of long long trips in different parts of the world. Usually I’m on a Triumph Tiger 900 or BMW 850. But I’m tired of the ridiculous prices these days and the weight. Plus sitting on highways for hours isn’t enjoyable. I’d still do long distance probably but as much “off road” as possible. Is this something that sounds like it would work for my type of riding style?
NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I OWN A KTM, I used to love them and had several but after being stranded several times they are all gone. Remember what KTM stands for...Keep Taking Money
What was the last ktm you owned, what problems were you having?
0:57 I want some of that invisible body armor.
Well Made #Short.! I see we have something in common. ;-)
Did you formally study film making? I’ve always been impressed by the quality of your videos!
I put 10K miles on an 890 R and the only issue was defective OEM battery. It was more bike that I wanted at 72 ;) KTM bikes have more issues than Japanese bikes, but issues get all the press where the majority don't have problems!
I’m 60 and knees are shot I have a yz426f for 20 years I was tired of kick starting it so I bought a 2023 crf300l and I love it except you don’t want to ride it on sand or it will put you on the ground with the stock tires I crashed 3 times in 2 days but if you ride on road or trails it’s fine but I recommend the tire upgrade my yz426f never crashed but it’s a true motocross bike it eats sand but I love my Honda motorcycles I have 4 and they never let me down
I GOT your eMail Sir. I wish this was a FREE Moto Event, but I will still tell my MotoFriends about it. Are Scoots allowed.? If Yes, you should reach out to the "Apocalypse Scooter Club" here in Calgary.
Nice video, thanks! ♥ Went camping in North Lapland, next to Siberia once. it was -52C (-62F) I was with dogs and a sledge. I ride an off road bike, but would be too scared on these icy roads, certainly without studs.
Not to worry .. KTM will bring out another model next week
What model is that helmet? Its clean
That’s the Biltwell Gringo!
Bottom line here, is there are clearly known issues on the smaller ktm's which have been known about for two years, so it's down to having faith in your bike to get you where you want to go, yes any vehicle could let you down occasionally, but if it happens two or three times you start to doubt it, and that affects your ride, worrying if you will get home ect, simply not worth it.
T7 all day, deer story sounds sus, first person to hit deer on bike and escape unscaved....great movie 😂😂😂
I just ***cleaned Schnebly hill road*** , from Sedona to I-17, then down 89a through Oak Crk, back to Sedona, on my totally stock CRF 300L. Read that again: Cleaned Schnebly!! And I’m brand new to the bike, w only 200 miles of gravel, dirt, and pavement. What a totally amazing bike!!
What did you do on those sections where i think there is two metal stair case things? They are tall.
@@joebr249 Are you asking about the trail, or the jeep road? No motorcycles, motor vehicles, on the trail. I don’t think they allow e-bikes even. There are several narly spots, large rocks everywhere, and tough obstacles at the metal gates. Picking you line is tough, because it more about dodging the worse rocks and riding over the mid-sized rocks. But the roughest part , this year anyway, is past the gate nearing the top, and there is no getting around the obstacles there. Are we on the same page pretty much?
@@captnhuffyyea I was talking about the jeep badge of honor trail. I did it several years back and now that I have this bike was thinking it would be cool to do with it lol. I just remember these metal steps about halfway up that mountain that were tricky getting over. So I was just curious how you would get the bike up them.
@@joebr249 Sounds like a great plan. note that I stumbled upon this ride, had no idea what I was getting into,, so afterwards I reached out to one of the locals who said that it is far far rougher now than it was 3 years ago. The boulders , ruts, obstacles are bigger , & challenges overall are more difficult , due to erosion from exceptionally harsh winter weather. I have many years of riding on full blown dirt bikes KTM, etc, not dual sports, in Oregon mainly. The point: and never have I ridden such a tough route.
Wait, when your friend sold it, did he seriously buy another 890?!? Or did he get a Tenere 700?? lol
So he owned the first generation of 890 when it first came out. He had issues then sold it and bought a tenere 700. Then in 2023 the 890 got some improvements and people were saying bugs were fixed so he bought another. Had issues then sold it.
IMO if you cant depend on a bike, it's not an adventure bike. Don't get me wrong, I love KTM's they are beautiful, powerful but don't like the risk of getting stranded.
I don't know why, but something about this really appeals to me. If I'm ever replacing my XL600 LM, I'd probably get something like this.
Great video ! Thanks and keep up the good work. Greetings from The Netherlands
Omg, way too many possibility for issues for my taste....went with a T7WR, couldnt be happier..
Have had several dual sports. mis a great bike for the money. Add Seat Concepts perch, gear down a touch, and aftermarket exhaust. Splendid. Never a reason to update since newer dr650s are the same machine; nothing wrong with that. When highway is my focus I jump on my Africa Twin. Best of both worlds.
